Incontinence Pads

Bladder control problems can be embarrassing to live with. However, many of the devices used today can help reduce the embarrassment and stigma attached to these types of problems. Incontinence pads are once such device. They help protect clothing and bed covers from stains and odors brought on by accidents. Incontinence pads are useful but one needs to follow care instructions when using them.

Incontinence pads today are reusable. They can be washed and reused again. This helps cut down on waste. In fact the more washed the incontinence pad receives the more absorbent it becomes. One should wash and tumble dry new incontinence pads before using. This way they will be extra absorbent for the first time.

When washing incontinence pads, avoid any detergents with built in fabric softeners. This can reduce their absorbancy. Also avoid using any harsh detergents. This can cause rashes and discomfort later on.

Incontinence pads should not be washed in bleach. However if they do become heavily soiled then diluted bleach may be suitable. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions as to bleach usage.

When washing incontinence pads, keep them separate from other items of clothing. Especially when they are soiled. After they are cleaned keep them stored safely away from any chemicals.

Finally, replace the incontinence pads if the show signs of wear and tear. They should also be replaced if they lack absorbency and comfort.

Incontinence pads can make a big difference in the lives of those that suffer from bladder weakness. They help keep clothing and beds from getting ruined. Using them correctly can increase their lives and keep the person in more comfort.
